  The Grouse & Claret is located in Rowsley just past the corner of Peak Shopping Village if you're traveling from Matlock. There is plenty of car parking even on a busy bank holiday lunch time we had no trouble finding a space. The outside looks grand and well presented, everything looks clean and tidy. When we went inside we were greeted and shown to our seats quickly and efficiently. Where we were seated the floor was uncarpetted which made the chairs slip around making it a little tougher than normal to get a good position around the table. The rest of the restaurant looked carpeted though so I guess we just got unlucky on this occasion. The smell of the rotisserie chicken was amazing and although we didn't try it this time around we definitely plan to go back and sample it in the near future! The menu itself was comprehensive, probably a little too much choice but a smaller lunch menu was available that we initially missed when looked at the menu. If you prefer a smaller portion and it's the right time of the day I suggest you give it a look first. It would have been nice for the staff to point it out to us as we sat down but that really is nit picking. The food itself was cooked quickly and to our liking and we thoroughly enjoyed the dessert choice. Overall a very nice experience and one we plan to enjoy again in the near future.

  During a day out driving around the country lanes and towns we just stopped off by chance for lunch before heading home. Upon entering we were greeted by a member of staff who showed us to our table. It was quite busy with a mix of families and couples, old and young. The service was prompt and friendly and the décor seemed quite new and comfortable. Food was of a good standard.
